Emma Smith (she/her) from a young age has felt called to walk alongside others in their mental health journeys, offering support, compassion, and guidance through life’s challenges, which led her to pursue a career in mental health. Emma earned her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she completed her Master of Social Work.
Emma is excited to begin working with a clinical focus on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, particularly within the pediatric population. She is passionate about the mind-body connection and hopes to integrate somatic and holistic approaches into her therapeutic practice. Outside of her clinical work, Emma enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her two cats.
Emma works with children, adolescents, and young adults, ranging in age from 0–24 years old.

Emma is a trained professional in Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for treating individuals with OCD. She focuses on providing adaptive, solution-focused care that is tailored to each client’s unique goals for treatment. It’s completely normal to feel nervous or unsure when starting your therapy journey, this is a big step, but Emma will work to make you feel heard, supported, and comfortable.
We collaborate closely with parents and encourage parental involvement, as it is a key piece in treatment progress and healing. We also offer family sessions to support everyone during their child’s treatment and beyond.
Even if you’re not a minor but are curious about bringing a support person to sessions, that’s completely fine! It’s common for clients to have a loved one join them, particularly during the intake session. If you wish, we can also include your loved one in your treatment plan in a way that best supports you.
