David Cooper, LCMHCA

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

David Cooper (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) at Greater Hope Center for OCD. He earned his Master of Science (MS) from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill, where he focused on psychiatric and developmental disabilities. During his studies, he completed a literature review exploring how smartphones influence problem behaviors in individuals with ADHD.

David specializes in working with individuals navigating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and related conditions. He also brings two years of experience working in substance use treatment settings. His therapeutic approach draws from Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERPT), Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. Grounded in existential philosophy, David believes that everyone deserves a sense of purpose—regardless of life’s challenges.

Outside of the therapy room, David enjoys writing, attending comedy shows, traveling, and spending time with his dog.
